Bill put a lot of effort into his ideas and thoughts on the design for a new house which we were grateful for as we had quite a few restrictions being in the South Downs National Park. He listened to us and helped us through the planning process which we knew little about A design was finalised and we submitted the planning application which was granted first time with no changes which was great. “We live in a Grade 2 listed home outside of Lewes and have to secure listed building consent from the local planning authority for any changes that we may wish to make. In 2025 we wanted to introduce two sky lights into our Victorian extension and new, double doors in another, earlier part of the house.
We used Bill Baynes Architecture in Lewes to review the siting of the new doors and windows to ensure these did not present any structural issues and, importantly, that the materials and finishes we proposed to use would not present issues for the unusually particular Planning Department of the
South Downs National Park.
A key part of Bill Baynes Architecture’s role was to prepare all technical drawings, including existing and proposed layouts and all exterior changes, including siting and technical detail
of the doors and windows.
The advice and subsequent drawings were delivered quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. Listed building consent was provided with no hitches and no questions. We propose to use Bill Baynes Architecture again when we have saved up enough for our next alteration!
